The affluent area of Kensington is home to many bars, restaurants and shops, as well as many historical attributes. It’s a hub for not only tourists but Londoners as well, it’s dotted with boutique hotels and budget hotels so the list of where you can stay is endless.
I’ve only been to Kensington a handful of times but have loved it every time I’ve been due to the sheer variety of food and entertainment.
Some of the more famous sights to see include the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. These museums are all free to visit, however they are popular attractions so expect long lines on the weekends. If you’re prepared to wait or get there when it opens, I highly suggest trawling through the endless exhibition rooms and exploring all the hidden gems. You’ll find dinosaurs, geological fossils, creepy crawlies, diamonds, jewels and a plethora of artefacts there, a great option if you’re travelling with children.
I however, head to Kensington for the food, cafes and night life. Against the busy city life, I love finding a warm cafe to cosy in. Food is a passion of mine and I’m always on the hunt for little hidden gems. A popular cafe with bloggers is Elan Cafe, thanks to the floral arrangements and pink lattes, I’ve eaten here before and I will vouch that the Nutella hot chocolate is delectable.
The Ivy is another firm favourite, offering sophisticated yet relaxed all day dining. Their garden terrace is situated at the back of the restaurant and provides the perfect respite from the crowds. This is especially popular during the summer as it is adorned with greenery and floral arrangements.
Whilst Restaurant Ours is a popular dinner destination, opened by Tom Sellers the owner of Restaurant Story, their dessert cocktails are particularly memorable and the food is well presented and delicious. The white walkway creates a sense of calm before entering the dining room which is pumping with music and areas that are very ‘instagrammable’.
If you’re looking to wind down and escape the crowds of people, I suggest visiting a spa for a relaxing afternoon treatment. Santi spa is top on the list. You can find Santi Spa a short walk away from South Kensington station and nestled amongst the gorgeously stylish shops like Chanel. Expect to receive outstanding service and treatments here which are loved by Cassie Steer.
Another favourite place to visit is Harrods and Kings Road, both of which boast a large collection of designer brands and goods. Whether it’s a new bag or pair of shoes you’re after there will be something that catches your eye.

I’m not the hugest fan of London and I haven’t really been to Kensington much before, but it definitely is a place that leaves quite an impression – it’s lovely. The houses always look incredible (as shown in your great photos)! The Elan Cafe looks like such a pretty cafe too!
